The Tale

A world kept alive by the Light - which must be renewed each generation, or it fails. At the summit of Mount Skala, where it was last renewed, a darkness has settled that will not lift, and it creeps ever downward. The cities higher on the Path have fallen silent; day by day the color thins from the air, the tempests grow, and the light fades.

Somariel, at the foot of the climb, is barely touched - its hearths still burn, its skies still clear, its people still walk in daylight. But the dark is not blind: it answers those who rise against it. Gather your companions, steel your courage, and begin the long ascent into the gathering dark.

The first city · Body · Earth

Somariel

The oldest, most solid city: quarried stone, foundries, healers' halls - lit and living when you arrive. House by house and street by street you earn your strength; beneath it all waits The Marrow, the multi-level dungeon that is the trial of the body. But the dark pushes harder the more you resist it: every dungeon cleared, the storms worsen, the streets dim, and the lamps burn lower.

The Marrow

Somariel's primary dungeon: a three-level mine-catacomb bored into the body of the world. Leave the streets, pass the gatekeeper, and descend floor by floor through restless dead and raw stone. Every torch buys a few more squares of certainty - and something at the bottom has been touched by what leaks down the Path.

The Ascending Path

The dark settles on the summit of Mount Skala and creeps ever downward. The cities higher on the Path have fallen silent - glimpsed, not yet reached. The alpha begins at Somariel, at the foot of the climb.
